PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Supa Plex (ranked 4756 p4p, 6315 weight class) and Danny Togo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Plex stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Plex wants it to stay on the feet.
Togo takes one to the side of the head.
Plex misses with a straight right.
Togo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Togo moves into range and clinches up with Plex.

Plex pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Plex displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Togo.
Plex misses with a looping right.
Togo steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Plex.
Plex throws a body shot but no joy.
Plex pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Togo slips a jab and a cross from Plex.

Supa Plex seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Togo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Plex doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Plex manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Plex connects with a couple of short punches.

Plex postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Plex trying to control but Togo is working from the bottom.
Plex might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Plex throws an elbow that misses. Togo uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Plex's guard. Nice move by Togo!

Plex has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Togo is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Plex fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Plex is trying to drag Togo to the mat but Togo just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Plex changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Togo fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Togo takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Togo tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Togo doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Togo is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Togo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Togo wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Plex manages to pass to side control.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Togo tries to clinch there but Plex circles away.

Togo tries to pull guard but Plex forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Plex is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Togo can't fight it off and eventually Plex manages to take the fight to the floor. Togo looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Togo manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Togo tries to score a body lock takedown but Plex shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Togo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Plex fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Togo sprawls well initially but Plex persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Togo is breathing heavily.
Togo wants to get back to his feet.
Plex winds up and cracks Togo with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Plex wants to lay and pray for a moment but Togo keeps working.
Togo has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Plex is working away from the top position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Togo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Plex can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Supa Plex overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Togo has his foot on Plex's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Plex works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Plex lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Togo can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Plex controls the pace.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Plex accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Togo takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Togo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Plex sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Togo somewhat.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Plex throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Plex lands with a thumping leg kick.
Plex stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Danny Togo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Supa Plex is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Plex pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Plex, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
