PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rick Ross (ranked 2575 p4p, 3765 weight class) and Djuro Zec (ranked 337 p4p, 475 weight class). Djuro Zec told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Sandra Marshall and Santiago Holmes.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ross fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Zec manages to avoid it.
Zec blocks a head kick by Ross.
A little jabbing left from Zec on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Zec looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Zec looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Ross!
Ross might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Zec working the head and body with strikes.

Zec cracks Ross with a big right hand but Ross just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Zec is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Ross will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Ross tries to improve position but can't.
Zec lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Ross tries to bench press Zec off him but Zec keeps the position.
Ross gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Ross slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Zec cracks Ross with a solid left hand.

Zec avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Ross looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Zec lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Ross is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Ross looking to hit a scissor sweep but Zec is one step ahead there.
Zec content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Zec makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Zec postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Zec engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Zec loads up on a big left hand. Ross felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Zec looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Ross can't hide his disappointment, as Zec celebrates the victory.
