Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Purple Aki (ranked 990 p4p, 1233 weight class) and Hirata Hitoshi (ranked 136 p4p, 166 weight class). Hirata Hitoshi has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Purple Aki's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hitoshi drives through and clinches with Aki against the cage.

Aki has clasped his hands together around Hitoshi's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Aki is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Hitoshi slaps away a takedown attempt from Aki, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Hitoshi misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Aki.
Aki shoots for a double leg takedown but Hitoshi sprawls well. He's pushed Aki's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Hitoshi drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Aki defends it well.
Aki looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Hitoshi appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

and Hitoshi counters with a nice double leg into side control. Aki won't be happy with that.

Hitoshi lands a strong strike to the head of Aki. That's dazed him! Hitoshi looking to finish here. Aki is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Hitoshi lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
