PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andre Mith (ranked 3237 p4p, 2342 weight class) and Arthur Fleck (ranked 422 p4p, 309 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andre Mith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Arthur Fleck!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Peter Branson and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mith is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Fleck.
Fleck drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Mith defends it well.
Fleck tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Mith defends well and Fleck ends up having to push Mith into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Mith throws a body shot but no joy.
Fleck with the counter takedown but Mith avoids it easily.
Mith throws a body punch but Fleck moves out of range.
Mith just misses with a punch to the body.
Fleck changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Fleck misses with a takedown attempt - Mith sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Fleck.
Andre Mith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arthur Fleck.
Mith misses with a wild body shot.
Mith missing with a left hand there. Fleck was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Fleck swats away the attempt to clinch by Mith.
And Fleck tries to counter it with a takedown but Mith pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Mith throws out a loose jab but Fleck uses good head movement to avoid it.

A slow jab from Fleck misses its intended target.
Mith swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Mith scores with a nice strike.
Mith misses with a looping right.
Fleck staying out of range there.
Mith is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Fleck's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Mith swings for the body but Fleck moves out of range.
And Fleck tries to counter it with a takedown but Mith pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Mith looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Fleck looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Mith has his hands clasped together around Fleck's back. He's all about the action.
Fleck throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Fleck wants to control but Mith is keeping him busy.
Fleck looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Fleck slips a nice elbow through Mith's hands, connecting with Mith's forehead.

Mith knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fleck on the ground.
Fleck looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mith with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Mith is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Fleck scores with a couple of nice shots.
Fleck prevents Mith from improving his position.
Fleck wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mith keeps working.

Fleck moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Mith.
Fleck has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Mith can't do much from the bottom here.
Mith is looking for a sweep.

Fleck landing strikes.
Fleck is looking to take a break and control but Mith is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Fleck lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mith is looking to regain half guard here but Fleck keeps moving and retains side control.

Mith on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mith tries to get out of the position.
Mith is trying to control Fleck's posture but Fleck avoids it.
Fleck landing a few strikes.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fleck just content to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fleck is chipping away with strikes.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Arthur Fleck will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Mith throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Fleck sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Mith pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Fleck back to the cage. Mith follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Mith misses with a looping right.
Fleck throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mith's waist but Mith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fleck off to one side.
Mith looks to land a left hand but Fleck moved out of range nicely.
Mith lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fleck fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Mith wants to clinch up but Fleck keeps it at a distance.

Mith lands a left and a right that send Fleck crashing to the mat, dazed. Mith thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Arthur Fleck has been cut.
Mith uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Fleck.
Horrible takedown attempt by Fleck or perhaps it was just good defense by Mith, which made it look bad.
Andre Mith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arthur Fleck.

Fleck closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Fleck lands in his opponent's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mith is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

You can see the frustration on Mith's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Fleck remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

That was a close second round but I would say that Andre Mith will probably get the nod.

Mith has gone for a leg lock! Fleck slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mith's guard.

Fleck is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Mith can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Fleck pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Fleck lands a big shot there that rocks Mith but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Fleck takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Oh Mith is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fleck looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Mith covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Arthur Fleck!
After winning the bout, Arthur Fleck thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
