PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Himayalan Cheetah (ranked 5376 p4p, 3852 weight class) and Oskar Arnason (ranked 540 p4p, 436 weight class). The key to victory for Himayalan Cheetah has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Himayalan Cheetah!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Oskar Arnason!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shigeki Sano and Yukihiro Shimada.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cheetah wants to clinch up but Arnason keeps it at a distance.
Cheetah tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Arnason was well out of range. Poor timing from Cheetah.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Arnason! But no joy.
Arnason looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Cheetah fails to land the takedown.
Cheetah tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Arnason paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Cheetah scores with a kick to the body.
Cheetah misses with a takedown attempt - Arnason sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Cheetah gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Arnason looks winded!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cheetah controls Arnason momentarily but Arnason frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Arnason wants to pass the guard but Cheetah is keeping the position.
Arnason throws a big elbow that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cheetah not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Arnason has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Cozad MMA Las Vegas. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Cheetah knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Arnason on the ground.
Arnason stays in close to Cheetah's body and controls the position.
Arnason cracks Cheetah with a solid left hand.
Cheetah is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Arnason is stalling in the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Arnason stuffs the takedown attempt from Cheetah. Cheetah gets slowly back to his feet.
And Arnason tries to counter it with a takedown but Cheetah pushes his down on his head and steps out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Himayalan Cheetah. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cheetah dives in and scores a takedown into Arnason's guard.
Cheetah wants to pass the guard but Arnason is keeping the position.

Cheetah is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Arnason has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Cheetah is looking to defend but Arnason has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Cheetah! Arnason pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Cheetah taps out and this one is all over!
