PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jesus Salazaro (ranked 4898 p4p, 5293 weight class) and Christopher Chan (ranked 567 p4p, 593 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jesus Salazaro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Christopher Chan!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, David Hoff and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chan gets tackled into the cage by Salazaro. Salazaro maintains the clinch.

Salazaro seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.
Come on Salazaro - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Chan throws an elbow but it misses.

Salazaro escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salazaro tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Salazaro manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Salazaro will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Chan up against the cage.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The referee is keeping an eye on Salazaro - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Jesus Salazaro.

Salazaro's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Chan doesn't manage to clinch there - Salazaro circles away.
Salazaro avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Chan fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Salazaro is out of range.

and Salazaro counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Salazaro.

Chan wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Salazaro shoots for a double leg takedown but Chan sprawls well. He's pushed Salazaro's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Chan lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Chan fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Salazaro swats away the attempt to clinch by Chan.

I would just about give that final round to Christopher Chan.
