And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lindsay Apollo!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Apollo lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Gracie tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Lindsay Apollo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Apollo throws a hook to the side of Gracie's head but Gracie sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Apollo misses with a hook. Gracie ducked under it nicely.
Apollo lands a nice leg kick that just misses Gracie's sensitive parts.

We've been hearing that Gracie has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Apollo is staying active underneath Gracie, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Gracie tries to counter with a takedown but Apollo is quick to defend against it.

Apollo throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

and Gracie counters with a single leg into guard. Apollo didn't expect that.

Apollo takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
A looping hook to the body misses from Apollo. Gracie does a little dance to reset his feet.

Apollo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Gracie takes the fight into the clinch.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Apollo.
Gracie drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Gracie gets through Apollo's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Gracie changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Apollo fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Gracie moves out of range of the body kick.
Gracie attempts a counter takedown but Apollo avoids it well and moves away.
Apollo paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

That was a close round but Renoa Gracie did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Gracie seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Apollo for as long as he can get away with.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gracie, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
