PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gul Dukat (ranked 1868 p4p, 1765 weight class) and Owen Alvarez (ranked 245 p4p, 226 weight class). Dukat comes to the cage accompanied by Guillotine (Swordz) . Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gul Dukat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Owen Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Chris Edwards and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez wants to clinch
and Dukat counters with a straight right hand.

Dukat gets a double leg takedown into Alvarez's guard.
Alvarez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dukat is one step ahead there.
Dukat looking to sit in guard and control but Alvarez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Dukat has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dukat has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Alvarez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Alvarez trying to control the position from guard on top but Dukat is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Alvarez tries to clinch up but Dukat circles away and keeps his distance.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Alvarez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dukat tries to avoid it but Alvarez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dukat to the ground. Dukat escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Dukat takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Alvarez avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Alvarez rushes Dukat and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Alvarez fails to land.

Dukat lands a left hand that snaps the head of Alvarez backwards.

Alvarez has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Dukat regains guard immediately.

Alvarez seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Dukat isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Alvarez stacks Dukat on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Alvarez!

A lull in the action here as Alvarez stalls from top position.
You can see the frustration on Dukat's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Dukat tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Alvarez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Owen Alvarez has got the better of the ground game so far.
Dukat is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Alvarez off and has taken his back!

Alvarez tries to roll but Dukat sticks to his back.
Dukat scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Alvarez is looking for a way out.

Dukat is landing with strikes. Alvarez can't take much more of this.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

That was a close second round but I would say that Gul Dukat will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

A less than humble Gul Dukat misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
