The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Veainu swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Abbott was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

Abbott has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Abbott ducks straight into an uppercut from Veainu and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Abbott manages to regain guard straight away.
