This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 2 losses; Young Lad! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 5 losses; Jab Brown!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Lad closes the distance and pushes Brown back into the cage.
Brown is pressed up against the cage. Lad has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Brown down to the mat. Brown avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Brown keeps the fight on the outside.

Brown fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lad sprawls well initially but Brown persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Lad has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Lad is looking for a sweep. Brown is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Brown looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Brown takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Brown tries to pass the half guard into mount. Lad knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Brown is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Lad defends it well.
Lad might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

It looks like Brown might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Brown seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lad does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brown is keen to just control but Lad is a slippery customer.

Brown wants to work for an arm triangle but Lad is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brown is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Lad reverses the position - he's now on top in Brown's guard.

Lad stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brown swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Brown is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Lad keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Lad is pressing down on Brown's thigh, looking to free his foot. Brown is holding on for now.
Brown is looking to control Lad's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Brown avoid being mounted?
Lad is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Lad wants to control but Brown is keeping him busy.

You can see the frustration on Brown's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
