The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDonald misses with a hook
and Alyoshin counters with a three punch combo that has McDonald backing up. McDonald nods at Alyoshin to acknowledge the strikes.
Alyoshin uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McDonald.
McDonald tries to close the distance and clinch but Alyoshin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
McDonald lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Alyoshin needs to keep his hands up - McDonald had a free shot at his head there.
Alyoshin definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Alyoshin ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
McDonald throws a right hand that misses
enabling Alyoshin to counter with a crisp jab.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fighters circle momentarily. McDonald darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
McDonald swings away with a body shot that misses

and Alyoshin counters with a crisp right hand that drops McDonald! Alyoshin lets McDonald back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

Jim Bob McDonald seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McDonald lands a nice shot that snaps Alyoshin's head back.
Alyoshin takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McDonald scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
and McDonald counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Alyoshin! He's just covering up as McDonald starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!
