Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Simon Eriksson (ranked 6632 p4p, 3968 weight class) and Boing Missalot (ranked 621 p4p, 446 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Simon Eriksson has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Simon Eriksson seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Boing Missalot!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Eriksson moves into the clinch.

Eriksson lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Eriksson seems to be looking for submissions.

Eriksson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Missalot has managed to free his arm - good work.
Eriksson tries to pass to full mount but Missalot defends it.
Eriksson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Missalot keeps working.
Eriksson throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Missalot to regain full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Eriksson slips nicely into half guard.
Eriksson looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Eriksson not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Missalot on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Eriksson moves nicely into side control.
Missalot gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Eriksson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Still in half guard, Eriksson seems content to control.

Missalot is staying active underneath Eriksson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Eriksson is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Missalot!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Eriksson sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Eriksson lands a couple of good shots and Missalot has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Missalot is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Eriksson off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
A lull in the action here.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Eriksson throws a leg kick but Missalot sees it coming and moves out of range.
Missalot with the counter takedown but Eriksson avoids it easily.

Eriksson closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Missalot's guard.
Eriksson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Missalot can do to turn this around?

Missalot had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Eriksson defends it easily.

A nice elbow there by Eriksson.
Missalot really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Eriksson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Eriksson breaks from Missalot's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Eriksson postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Missalot looks a forlorn figure.
Eriksson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Simon Eriksson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Eriksson lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
The referee warns Missalot that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Missalot is trying desperately to improve position.
Missalot has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
I really don't envy Missalot right now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Eriksson is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Eriksson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Eriksson is looking for the choke from the back position but Missalot is controlling his hands well.

Eriksson is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Missalot has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Eriksson has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Missalot taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Eriksson doesn't care though - he's delighted!
