Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Paul Hunt (ranked 2327 p4p, 4004 weight class) and Fredo Gempeler (ranked 0 p4p, 464 weight class). Paul Hunt has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Paul Hunt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Fredo Gempeler!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Emerson Jorge and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gempeler lands with a right hand.

Hunt gets the takedown into side control.

Hunt has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Gempeler throws a body punch but Hunt moves out of range.
Gempeler ducks right into an uppercut from Hunt.
Hunt circles away from the clinch attempt.
A punch combination from Gempeler misses.

Hunt shoots in and bounces Gempeler off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Gempeler is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Hunt dives into side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.


Hunt decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Hunt shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Hunt was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Gempeler bucks up and tries to throw Hunt off but instead Hunt has got his back!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Gempeler is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Hunt's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gempeler is trying to stand back up.
Hunt controlling the position well here. Gempeler rolled but Hunt kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Hunt throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gempeler was covering up waiting for the punch and Hunt finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Gempeler wants to get back to his feet but Hunt passes into half guard.

Hunt content to control rather than advance.
Gempeler looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Hunt is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gempeler can do to turn this around?
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hunt has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hunt stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Hunt feints and as Gempeler raises his hands in defense, Hunt changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gempeler is wriggling around but Hunt manages to pass to half guard.

Gempeler bucks up and tries to throw Hunt off but instead Hunt has got his back!
Gempeler is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Hunt.
If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Hunt is stinking the place up with his stalling.
Paul Hunt overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Hunt fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gempeler sprawls well initially but Hunt persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Gempeler wants to stand back up but Hunt manages to pass into side control.

Hunt decides to stand back up. Hunt steps back and let's Gempeler get back to his feet.

Hunt closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gempeler's guard.
Hunt is standing up over Gempeler. Gempeler looks to escape but Hunt dives into side control.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hunt has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Gempeler!

Hunt is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Gempeler throws a hook but Hunt blocks it.

Hunt closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Gempeler is looking to get back to his feet here but Hunt is keeping cool and he's managed to take Gempeler's back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gempeler wants to get back to his feet.
Hunt biding his time, looking for the opening.
Fredo Gempeler has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Hunt slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Hunt seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gempeler for as long as he can get away with.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hunt, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
