PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Harris Reed (ranked 595 p4p, 2181 weight class) and Kai Chisaki (ranked 83 p4p, 274 weight class). Reed comes to the cage accompanied by Beethoven's 5th Symphony. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Harris Reed!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kai Chisaki!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reed moves into the clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Reed fails to land.
Reed works on Chisaki's body with a couple of short punches.
Chisaki is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Chisaki has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Reed is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Reed scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Harris Reed has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kai Chisaki.

Reed lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Reed breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Chisaki looks to throw the jab but Reed is out of range.
Reed swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Chisaki misses with a lunging right hand
and Reed counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Reed takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Reed lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Kai Chisaki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Reed forces Chisaki back against the cage and clinches.
Reed lands an uppercut.
Reed lands a left hand.
A left hand lands to the body for Reed.
Chisaki goes for a takedown attempt but Reed pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Reed slips under a jab from Chisaki.
Reed will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Reed fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Chisaki looks winded!

and Reed counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Chisaki is rocked!
Reed stands and throws Chisaki's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Chisaki is still in real trouble! Can Reed finish him?
Reed working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Chisaki has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Reed is looking to take a break and control but Chisaki is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Chisaki tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Chisaki seems to have recovered his senses.

Reed cracks Chisaki with a big elbow.
Reed wants to control but Chisaki is keeping him busy.
Reed in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Reed is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Chisaki has escaped the position, nice work there.
Chisaki is trying to work for a sweep but Reed has mounted him!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Chisaki is in a horrible position here. Reed smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Chisaki is looking to improve his position but Reed isn't that keen on the idea.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Reed landing shots from mount.
The referee warns Chisaki that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Reed unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Chisaki wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Reed celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Harris Reed!
Harris Reed retains his lightweight title!
