PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kokkoro Kirin (ranked 665 p4p, 838 weight class) and Beau Canada (ranked 29 p4p, 21 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Kokkoro Kirin has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Kokkoro Kirin seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kokkoro Kirin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Beau Canada!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Paul Tew and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slapping leg kick lands for Canada.
Canada misses with a leg kick
and Kirin counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Kirin missing with a left hand there. Canada was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

It looks like Kokkoro Kirin has been cut.
Kirin uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Canada has time to react.
Canada avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Canada fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Kirin takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
We've been informed that Canada has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Kirin pushes off an throws an elbow but Canada leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Kirin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Canada drives through with a takedown into Kirin's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Kirin wants to sweep here but Canada controlling him for the moment.

It looked like Kirin wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Canada closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Canada feints a jab promting Kirin to slip. Canada then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Kirin slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Beau Canada seems to be getting the better of the standup.

and Kirin counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Canada paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Canada clinches up with Kirin and pushes him back against the cage.

Canada lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Kirin is trying to break the clinch but Canada is controlling him.
Kirin can't find room to land a body shot as Canada controls the action.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Kirin takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Kirin is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Canada changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Kirin fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Kokkoro Kirin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Beau Canada.

Kirin's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Kirin duly obliges.
The fighters circling - Canada throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Canada shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kirin sprawls well. Kirin wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Canada gets slowly back to his feet.
Canada just misses with a punch to the body.
Kirin ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Canada has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Canada clinches with his opponent.

Kirin is fighting off a takedown attempt but Canada is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Kirin to the mat. Kirin regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Canada keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kirin's head.
Canada is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Beau Canada showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Canada slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Kirin swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kirin gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Some bone on bone action there as Canada checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

and Kirin takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Canada throws a jab but it's blocked by Kirin.
Kirin was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Canada throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Kirin on the side of the head.

Kirin is rocked!

Kokkoro Kirin's cut is getting worse.
Canada drops Kirin with a naaaaasty hook - Kirin is in real trouble here! Canada dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!

Our winner, Beau Canada, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
