The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, John Kavanagh and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith looks to land a combination but Knox avoids it well.
Knox throws the left hand but Smith avoids the punch easily.
Knox scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.


It looks like Jim Smith has been cut.
Knox thuds his right hand into Smith's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Smith misses with a jab, cross combination.
A clash of legs there as Smith blocks the low kick.
Smith throws a left and a right that both miss
and Knox cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Knox scores with the left hand. Smith knows he should have avoided that one.

Smith fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Knox looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Knox takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Smith is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Knox.

Tommy Knox is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Smith tries for a takedown but Knox circles away easily
and Knox counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Knox catches Smith with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Smith misses with an uppercut. Knox saw that one coming.
Smith doesn't succeed with the takedown
enabling Knox to counter with a crisp jab.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jim Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Smith gets the takedown into side control.
Knox is trying to improve his position.
You can see the frustration on Knox's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Knox is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Smith asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Knox is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Knox gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Smith is working for a kimura here but Knox manages to reverse the position and he's now in Smith's guard.
Knox wants to pass the guard but Smith is keeping the position.
Knox is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Smith looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Knox passes into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Smith takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

and Knox makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Smith is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Knox scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Tommy Knox seems to be getting the better of the standup.

and Knox counters with a left and a right that stings Smith.

Smith takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Knox lands with a right hand.
Knox lands with a hook. Smith tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Knox throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Knox connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Smith tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Knox avoids the head kick by Smith.
Smith misses with a takedown
and Knox counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Knox takes a swing at Smith's ribcage but misses.

Knox fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Smith on the side of the head.

Knox will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

No joy there for Smith, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Jim Smith's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
