PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Karsten Koererlaerer (ranked 1614 p4p, 3666 weight class) and Mono Loco (ranked 182 p4p, 354 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Karsten Koererlaerer has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Karsten Koererlaerer seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Karsten Koererlaerer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 27 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mono Loco!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Patrick Alders and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koererlaerer throws a body punch but Loco moves out of range.

Koererlaerer shoots in and bounces Loco off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Koererlaerer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Loco escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Koererlaerer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Loco is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Loco seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Loco keeping moving, preventing Koererlaerer from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Loco escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Koererlaerer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Loco lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Koererlaerer wants to get back to his feet but Loco is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Koererlaerer has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Loco has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Koererlaerer is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Loco can't fight it off and eventually Koererlaerer manages to take the fight to the floor. Loco looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Loco working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Koererlaerer doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Koererlaerer manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Loco wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Koererlaerer throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Loco works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Koererlaerer shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Koererlaerer was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Loco is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Loco avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Koererlaerer.

Koererlaerer is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Loco is just riding it out for now. Koererlaerer eventually gives up the hold.

Koererlaerer distracts Loco with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Loco is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Koererlaerer throws an elbow that misses. Loco uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Koererlaerer's guard. Nice move by Loco!


Koererlaerer has his feet on Loco's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Loco shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Koererlaerer pinned against the cage. Koererlaerer gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Loco misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Karsten Koererlaerer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Loco counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Koererlaerer!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Loco content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Loco is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Koererlaerer is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Koererlaerer is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Loco is controlling him well.

Loco is looking to take a break and control but Koererlaerer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Koererlaerer is wriggling around trying to escape.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Koererlaerer bucks Loco off and manages to get back to his feet!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Mono Loco will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Koererlaerer decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Loco regains full guard. Nicely done.
Karsten Koererlaerer overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Loco has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Koererlaerer can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Loco manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Koererlaerer manages to get himself to full guard.

Loco seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Loco's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Koererlaerer tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

Loco is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Koererlaerer has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Loco has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Koererlaerer taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Loco doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Mono Loco!
During a confident post fight interview, Mono Loco thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
