Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Shane O Malley (ranked 1435 p4p, 1272 weight class) and DeMario Valdez (ranked 155 p4p, 142 weight class). O Malley comes to the cage accompanied by Someone Like Me - by: Jon Connor. Valdez has chosen Era - Ameno as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

O Malley tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Valdez swivels and escapes.

Valdez has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

O Malley darts in looking for a takedown but Valdez gets double underhooks and turns O Malley into the cage.
Valdez swings wildly with an uppercut but O Malley uses good head movement to avoid it.

Valdez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
O Malley misses with a looping right.
O Malley takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
O Malley throws out a powerful jab.
Valdez feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits O Malleys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
O Malley connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

DeMario Valdez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

O Malley closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The ground and pound from O Malley seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
O Malley misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
You can see the frustration on Valdez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

O Malley tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no O Malley has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Valdez tries to kick O Malley off but O Malley keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
O Malley not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
O Malley seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Valdez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Valdez wants to get back to full guard.
Valdez wants to control but O Malley passes into side.

O Malley postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Valdez tries to buck O Malley off but O Malley is having none of it.
O Malley lands a decent elbow from side control.

O Malley is working to tighten his grip on Valdez's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Valdez has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but O Malley is really squeezing tight and eventually Valdez passes out! O Malley breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
