The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Day goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Smirnov misses with a looping right.

Smirnov comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Anton Smirnov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smirnov takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Smirnov is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Day.

That kick from Day tenderised Smirnov's leg. Smirnov is trying to keep his angry face on.
Day lets loose with a powerful body kick. Smirnov will feel that in the morning.

Day thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Smirnov if he has to take too many more of those.

and Day counters with a good low kick that Smirnov was not able to check.

Day takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Day is rocked!
Smirnov lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Day up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Smirnov from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Day's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Anton Smirnov!
