The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ellacuria fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Lahey.
Lahey misses with a hook.
Ellacuria throwing a counter right hand but Lahey manages to avoid it.
Ellacuria misses with a leg kick
and Ellacuria takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Ellacuria has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Lahey throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Lahey is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Ellacuria had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.

Lahey is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Lahey feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Ellacurias jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Lahey fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ellacuria manages to avoid it.
As Lahey backs away, Ellacuria returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

Lahey throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Lahey closes the distance looking to clinch
and Ellacuria counters with a nice uppercut.
Ellacuria throws a lazy right hand but Lahey sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Lahey cracks Ellacuria with a right hand to the side of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lahey has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
