Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Barry Bonon (ranked 1744 p4p, 2704 weight class) and James Carter (ranked 224 p4p, 332 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Barry Bonon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Carter!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Steve Montenegro and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bonon feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Carter cracks Bonon with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Bonon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Carter tries to avoid it but Bonon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Carter to the ground. Carter escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Bonon shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Carter pinned against the cage. Carter gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Bonon drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Carter gets the underhooks and prevents it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bonon has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Carter after a bit of a struggle.
Carter lands a left hand that snaps the head of Bonon backwards.
Bonon tries to score a body lock takedown but Carter shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Carter has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Carter's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Carter lands a hook that snaps the head of Bonon backwards.
Carter pushes Bonon back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Bonon gets control of Carter's arms and successfully pulls guard. Bonon will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Carter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bonon swivels though and keeps the full guard.
