PBP Commentary

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Prince McVicker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Steven Stark!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Valeri Chadov and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stark tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but McVicker defends well and Stark ends up having to push McVicker into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Stark moves away from the strike by McVicker.
Stark changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. McVicker tries to avoid it but Stark manages to keep hold of a leg and drag McVicker to the ground. McVicker escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Stark is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Stark gets caught napping as McVicker dives in and scores a takedown. Stark manages to retain guard.
Stark avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
McVicker wants to control from the top but Stark keeps moving.
McVicker trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
McVicker is stalling in the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McVicker throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stark can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McVicker wants to pass the guard but Stark is keeping the position.
McVicker wants to control from the top but Stark keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
McVicker misses with a low kick.
Stark darts in looking for a takedown but McVicker gets double underhooks and turns Stark into the cage.
McVicker half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Prince McVicker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steven Stark.

Stark drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Stark cracks McVicker with a big elbow.
McVicker is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
McVicker gets full guard.
Stark chips away with some ground and pound.
Stark really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McVicker. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

McVicker pushes a forearm under Stark's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Stark is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Prince McVicker!
A relieved looking Prince McVicker thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
