Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Syngin Colchester (ranked 5004 p4p, 4252 weight class) and Tom Cullen (ranked 541 p4p, 481 weight class). Tom Cullen has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Syngin Colchester!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tom Cullen!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Colchester tries for a takedown but Cullen sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Colchester misses with a two punch combination.

Colchester throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cullen tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Colchester is in Cullen's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Cullen controlling the position.
Let's hope that Cullen has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Syngin Colchester seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cullen scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Cullen has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

and Cullen cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Cullen tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Colchester was well out of range. Poor timing from Cullen.

Colchester went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Despite the aggression on Cullen's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Colchester looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Colchester misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Colchester stuns Cullen with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Cullen lands a left and a right that send Colchester crashing to the mat, dazed. Cullen thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Syngin Colchester has been cut.
Tom Cullen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Colchester throws a body punch but Cullen moves out of range.
Cullen is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Oh Colchester is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Cullen tries to bum rush Colchester with a series of wild strikes but Colchester uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Syngin Colchester. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cullen throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
enabling Colchester to counter with a crisp jab.

Colchester shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Cullen is trying to defend but Colchester finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Colchester is looking to take a break and control but Cullen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Colchester has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Cullen is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Colchester's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Colchester's back!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Colchester tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

You get the feeling that Colchester really doesn't like being in this position too much.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Colchester with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Cullen to score with a decent uppercut.

and Cullen counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Colchester! He's just covering up as Cullen starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!
