PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between The Eagle (ranked 2842 p4p, 2273 weight class) and Lue Randle (ranked 366 p4p, 304 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 4 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, The Eagle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lue Randle!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Randle fails with a takedown attempt.
As Randle looks to move away, Eagle throws a big counter combo but Randle just gets out of the way.
Eagle lands a jab to the head.
Randle tries for a takedown but Eagle circles away easily
and Randle takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Randle tries to bum rush Eagle with a series of wild strikes but Eagle uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Eagle has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Cali Gym in the buildup to the fight.
Eagle shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Randle keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Eagle moves out of range as Randle strikes.
Eagle throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Randle's waist but Randle gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Eagle off to one side.
Eagle fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Randle looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Randle misses the shot to the body.
Eagle punishes Randle's body with a nice straight punch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Eagle throws the left hand but Randle avoids the punch easily.

Eagle feints and as Randle raises his hands in defense, Eagle changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Eagle lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Randle is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Eagle missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Randle is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Randle not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Eagle accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Randle is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Randle looking to hit a scissor sweep but Eagle is one step ahead there.
Eagle is looking to work some ground and pound but Randle has wrist control.
Eagle working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Randle's head.
Eagle throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Randle works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Eagle lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Eagle is looking to work some ground and pound but Randle has wrist control.

Randle has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Eagle can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Eagle slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Eagle wants to pass the guard but Randle is keeping the position.
Eagle working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Randle is looking for a triangle but Eagle pushes his legs off easily.
Eagle stands up over Randle, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
We've been informed that Randle has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Eagle lands a couple of elbows.
Eagle trying to control but Randle is working from the bottom.
Randle is trying to control the position but Eagle postures up.

Randle working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Eagle doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Eagle manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Randle pushes a forearm under Eagle's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Eagle is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Lue Randle!
A very excited looking Lue Randle made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
