PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Quinten Jackson (ranked 2820 p4p, 4331 weight class) and Micahel Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 538 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Quinten Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Micahel Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Horrible takedown attempt by Jackson or perhaps it was just good defense by Anderson, which made it look bad.
Anderson looks to land a body kick but Jackson moved away.
Jackson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Jackson shoots for a takedown but Anderson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Quinten Jackson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Anderson misses with a looping right.
As Anderson tries to get set, Jackson tries to push him back and clinch up but Anderson manages to avoid the attempt.
Jackson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jackson darts in looking for a takedown but Anderson gets double underhooks and turns Jackson into the cage.
Jackson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Anderson just stands there and leans against the cage.

Jackson is trying to trip Anderson. He has hold of a leg but Anderson is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Jackson persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Anderson has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Jackson has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Anderson is pushing Jackson up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Anderson leaves Jackson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Anderson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jackson swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Quinten Jackson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Anderson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Anderson throws a half hearted mid kick.
Anderson scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Jackson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Anderson moves away.
Jackson shoots for a double leg takedown but Anderson sprawls well. He's pushed Jackson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Anderson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Jackson is trying to control the action in half guard but Anderson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Jackson thows a huge punch but Anderson dodges it nicely.
Anderson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jackson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Jackson shoots in looking for a takedown. Anderson tries to sprawl out of it but Jackson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Anderson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Anderson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jackson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Anderson is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Jackson with a body shot.

Jackson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Anderson, pushing him back against the cage.
Anderson has had enough of the clinch but Jackson keeps him there for the moment.

Jackson has picked Anderson up - he's going for a ride! Jackson dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Anderson wants to control but Jackson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Jackson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Jackson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Anderson has managed to free his arm - good work.

Anderson is trying to stand up here but Jackson is controlling him well.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Anderson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jackson tries to avoid it but Anderson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jackson to the ground. Jackson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Quinten Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Micahel Anderson.
Jackson closes the distance and clinches up with Anderson, looking for a takedown. Jackson pushes Anderson against the cage but Anderson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Anderson tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Jackson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Anderson.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Jackson shoots in but Anderson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Anderson just misses with a punch to the body.
Anderson throws a series of punches but Jackson avoids them all with ease.

Anderson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Anderson manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Anderson is trying to pull guard but Jackson has him pressed against the cage.
Anderson looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Anderson tries to stall but Jackson uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Jackson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jackson scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Anderson pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Anderson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Jackson tries for a takedown but Anderson circles away easily
and Anderson counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

And that's the end of the fight!
Micahel Anderson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Anderson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
