Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sergeant Smash (ranked 1272 p4p, 883 weight class) and Ramesses Rei (ranked 16 p4p, 8 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smash was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

and Rei connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

and Smash counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Smash throws a jab but it's blocked by Rei.

Smash looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Rei has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Smash is working away from the top position though.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Smash has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Rei's coach down at Bone Breakerz was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Rei's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Rei clobbers Smash with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Smash misses with a hook. Rei ducked under it nicely.
Rei fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Smash manages to avoid it.

I was talking to Smash's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
