Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ralph Hignett (ranked 23929 p4p, 5065 weight class) and Thongthailek Sitsongrit (ranked 467 p4p, 424 weight class). Hignett comes to the cage accompanied by Right Above It. Ralph Hignett has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ralph Hignett !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thongthailek Sitsongrit !
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Reed Andrews and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sitsongrit shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hignett defends it nicely.

Hignett wants to free his trapped foot but Sitsongrit is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Hignett takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Hignett prevents Sitsongrit from improving his position.
Hignett really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hignett tries to stand but can't do so whilst Sitsongrit controls his leg.
Hignett is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Sitsongrit is looking to control Hignett 's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sitsongrit avoid being mounted?

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Sitsongrit fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Hignett tries to score a body lock takedown but Sitsongrit shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Sitsongrit 's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sitsongrit drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hignett gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Sitsongrit really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hignett . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

You can see the frustration on Sitsongrit 's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Hignett tries to score with some ground and pound. Sitsongrit controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Hignett shoots in looking for a takedown. Sitsongrit tries to sprawl out of it but Hignett keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sitsongrit manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Sitsongrit tries to clinch up but Hignett circles away and keeps his distance.
Hignett keeps the fight on the outside.
Hignett drops down looking for a counter takedown but Sitsongrit sprawls and moves away.
Sitsongrit shoots for a double leg takedown but Hignett sprawls well. He's pushed Sitsongrit 's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Sitsongrit gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Hignett wants to control from the top but Sitsongrit keeps moving.
Hignett stays in close to Sitsongrit 's body and controls the position.

Hignett is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Sitsongrit is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Sitsongrit has escaped and now he's on top!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hignett wants to stand but Sitsongrit is controlling the position.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hignett , winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
