Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yodsingkhun Sitsongrit (ranked 15 p4p, 162 weight class) and Jay Simon (ranked 3 p4p, 28 weight class). Yodsingkhun Sitsongrit had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Yodsingkhun Sitsongrit!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 10 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jay Simon!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Paul Tew and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sitsongrit takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Simon misses the shot to the body.
Sitsongrit is looking to counter punch.
Simon dives in and grabs Sitsongrit's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sitsongrit pushes down on Simon's head and hops out.
Sitsongrit swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Simon takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Sitsongrit misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sitsongrit throws a nice inside leg kick.
Simon swings for the body but Sitsongrit moves out of range.
Jay Simon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Simon fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Sitsongrit looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Simon shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Sitsongrit looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Simon works his foot free and advances to mount.

Simon is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Sitsongrit to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Sitsongrit shrugs it off.

Simon is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Sitsongrit is surviving well by controlling Simon's body position as best he can.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

A relieved looking Jay Simon thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
