Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Moganesh Jain (ranked 2644 p4p, 2155 weight class) and Lorenzo Bataglia (ranked 165 p4p, 123 weight class). Jain comes to the cage accompanied by The Monkey King. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Moganesh Jain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lorenzo Bataglia!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jain slips a straight right by Bataglia.

Jain swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Bataglia fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jain manages to avoid it.
Bataglia scores with a shot to the body.
Jain throws a shot from downtown. Bataglia moves away and avoids it.
Jain tries to clinch there but Bataglia circles away.
Bataglia looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Bataglia thumps Jain with a low kick.

Jain takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jain needs to keep his hands up - Bataglia had a free shot at his head there.

Bataglia has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Jain is landing a low percentage of strikes.

and Bataglia counters with a straight right hand.
Lorenzo Bataglia is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Bataglia bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Jain takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Bataglia is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Jain had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.

Bataglia throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Jain sees it coming and avoids it easily.
A slow jab from Bataglia misses its intended target.
Nice uppercut lands for Bataglia. That snapped Jain's head back.
Bataglia shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Bataglia looks to land a left hand but Jain moved out of range nicely.
Jain swings and misses with a hook to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jain loads up on a big right hand but Bataglia slips the punch.
Lorenzo Bataglia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bataglia uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jain.

Bataglia attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Bataglia fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

It seemed like Bataglia was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Bataglia misses with an uppercut. Jain saw that one coming.

Lorenzo Bataglia dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Bataglia has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Jain closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jain lands in his opponent's guard.
Bataglia is trying to keep Jain in close.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jain is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Bataglia is refusing to be controlled, as Jain sits in half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jain tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bataglia knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Jain seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bataglia does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Jain is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Bataglia!

You get the feeling that Bataglia really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Bataglia is squirming around, avoiding Jain's attempts to control the action.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jain pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.

Jain wants to take Bataglia's back here but Bataglia is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

Jain takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

and Jain counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

and Jain counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Bataglia!

Bataglia throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Bataglia keeping moving, preventing Jain from controlling successfully.
Jain slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Bataglia wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Jain is now in half guard.

Jain is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Bataglia is trying to stand up here but Jain is controlling him well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jain passes into side control, despite Bataglia's attempt to control the position.
Jain tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Bataglia tries to escape but Jain is in control.
Bataglia tries to bench press Jain off him but Jain keeps the position.

Jain tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jain has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Bataglia gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Bataglia pushes Jain off but Jain dives into side control.
Bataglia is looking for a sweep.
Jain happy to just control the position for now.
Jain wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bataglia keeps working.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Moganesh Jain.
I think Jain has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Moganesh Jain was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
