PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between AJ Llewellyn (ranked 1901 p4p, 2531 weight class) and Kikuchiyo Mifune (ranked 282 p4p, 351 weight class). Llewellyn comes into the arena with Doomsday blaring out of the sound system. Mifune has chosen Seven Samurai as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kikuchiyo Mifune!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Andrew Berry and James Ackerman.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mifune just misses with a punch to the body.
Kikuchiyo Mifune seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mifune misses the shot to the body.
No luck for Llewellyn with that takedown attempt.
Mifune throws out a counter right but Llewellyn avoids it with no problem.
Mifune fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Llewellyn looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

and Mifune counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Llewellyn shoots for a double leg takedown but Mifune sprawls well. He's pushed Llewellyn's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Llewellyn looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for AJ Llewellyn. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Mifune counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Mifune lands with an overhand left.
Mifune throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Llewellyn half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Mifune stuns Llewellyn with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Llewellyn lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
A slow jab from Llewellyn misses its intended target.
Mifune connects with a jab.
Mifune lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

It looks like AJ Llewellyn has been cut.
Llewellyn takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Llewellyn on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mifune sends Llewellyn crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Mifune is motioning to the referee to let Llewellyn up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Llewellyn is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mifune's half guard.

Llewellyn is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Mifune is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
