PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sergey Vinogradov (ranked 635 p4p, 2302 weight class) and Matthew Quigley (ranked 91 p4p, 304 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergey Vinogradov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Matthew Quigley!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yuuki Gou and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vinogradov misses with a wild body shot.

Matthew Quigley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Vinogradov throws a lazy right hand but Quigley sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Quigley lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Quigley's coach down at Advanced Fitness Inc. was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Quigley's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Vinogradov has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Quigley finds it's way round the side to connect with Vinogradov's head.

Quigley throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Vinogradov stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Vinogradov feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
