PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ted Meredith (ranked 3446 p4p, 24099 weight class) and Mapple Syrup (ranked 456 p4p, 657 weight class). Meredith comes to the cage accompanied by Skinny Boys - Skinny (They Can't Get Enough). Mapple Syrup will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Ted Meredith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mapple Syrup!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Glass and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meredith moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Meredith scores with a body shot.
Syrup walks into a jab.
Meredith has been working on his boxing with his coaches at JAG Battle Gym in the buildup to the fight.
Syrup ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Meredith moves away.
Meredith throws a body shot but no joy.
The fight stays on the outside here - Meredith looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Syrup is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Meredith throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Meredith scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Meredith lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Syrup moves into the clinch successfully.

Syrup ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Syrup no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Syrup had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Meredith defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Syrup is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Meredith tries to roll over but Syrup keeps him under control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Meredith keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ted Meredith dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Syrup closes the distance and clinches.
Meredith throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Meredith lands a right hand.

Syrup is rocked!

It looks like Mapple Syrup has been cut.
Meredith lands a body punch in the clinch.
Meredith controlling the action here for a moment.

Meredith breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Meredith swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Ted Meredith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Syrup doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Meredith gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Meredith putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Syrup in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Syrup is breathing heavily.
Meredith tests Syrup's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Meredith moves into range and connects with a jab.
Syrup is still on wobbly legs! Can Meredith finish him?

Syrup takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Syrup closes the distance and pushes Meredith back into the cage.
Meredith lands a big right hand that drops Syrup! The killer instinct kicks in and Meredith finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Meredith!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ted Meredith!
Ted Meredith decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
