The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Diaz shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in McGregor's guard.

Diaz decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Diaz closes the distance and clinches up with McGregor, looking for a takedown. Diaz pushes McGregor against the cage but McGregor circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

McGregor gets tackled into the cage by Diaz. Diaz maintains the clinch.
McGregor wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Diaz has him pressed against the cage.

Diaz jumps into guard, dragging McGregor to the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Diaz seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Diaz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McGregor doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Diaz is tightening it up a little... McGregor has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! McGregor reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! McGregor taps out! Nice BJJ there by Diaz!
