Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fiore Azul (ranked 3622 p4p, 5071 weight class) and Suzaku Kururugi (ranked 473 p4p, 563 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Fiore Azul!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Suzaku Kururugi!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Ben Hemmingworth and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kururugi throws a hook to the side of Azul's head but Azul sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Azul throws a body punch but Kururugi moves out of range.
Azul throws a shot to the body.
Azul throws a solid leg kick but Kururugi takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Azul.
Kururugi scores with a crisp jab that stopped Azul in his tracks.
Azul throws a low kick, looking for Kururugi's leg but Kururugi calmly moves out of range.
Azul throws a wild body kick that Kururugi sees coming a mile off.
Kururugi is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Azul with a body shot.
Kururugi tried to score with a low kick but Azul checks it.
Kururugi takes a swing at Azul's ribcage but misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kururugi lands with a right hand.
Azul slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Azul takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
We've been hearing reports that Azul has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Azul takes a swing at Kururugi's ribcage but misses.
Kururugi appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

Kururugi throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Azul feinted there with a counter leg kick.

and Azul takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Suzaku Kururugi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nice straight punches there by Azul. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Azul.

Fiore Azul seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Azul is looking to wear down Kururugi with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Azul throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kururugi sees it coming and avoids it easily.

It looked like Azul was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Kururugi.

Azul misses with an uppercut. Kururugi saw that one coming.

Azul shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kururugi napping and manages to drive through into side control!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Azul looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kururugi with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Azul winds up and cracks Kururugi with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Azul wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kururugi keeps working.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Azul lands a nice short elbow.

Azul has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Fiore Azul dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Azul throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Azul with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Azul lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Kururugi misses with a shot to the body

and Azul counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Azul is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Azul is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kururugi can do to turn this around?

Azul is just content to waste time from the top position. Kururugi takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Azul is looking to advance position but Kururugi has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Azul pulls Kururugi in close to his closed guard and prevents Kururugi from doing any damage or advancing position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Azul is on top in guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Kururugi has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at The Proving Grounds. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Azul throws a leg kick
and Kururugi counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Kururugi avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Azul misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kururugi.
Azul finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Azul fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kururugi.

enabling Azul to counter with a crisp jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Fiore Azul.
Well Azul has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
