Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shigeru Uchida (ranked 2592 p4p, 3175 weight class) and Juan Carlos (ranked 328 p4p, 394 weight class). Shigeru Uchida has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shigeru Uchida!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Juan Carlos!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Andrew Berry and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Uchida slips a jab and a cross from Carlos.

Carlos clobbers Uchida with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Carlos closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Uchida dodges the ground and pound from Carlos.
Uchida tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Carlos tries to advance to mount but Uchida denies him.
Uchida takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Uchida is looking to reverse the position.
Uchida gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Uchida knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Carlos on the ground.
Carlos throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Uchida kicks off Carlos and gets to his feet.
Carlos throws a hook but Uchida blocks it.
Uchida fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Carlos.
A solid leg kick lands there for Carlos.
Juan Carlos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carlos is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
It looked like Uchida was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Carlos feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Carlos told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

A close round but Juan Carlos will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Uchida lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Carlos throws a body kick that misses.
Carlos takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Carlos tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Uchida defends well and Carlos ends up having to push Uchida into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carlos throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Uchida lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Carlos has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Carlos and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Carlos tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Uchida was well out of range. Poor timing from Carlos.
Uchida walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Carlos throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Carlos throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Uchida is looking to counter with head kicks.
Carlos throws a jab but it's blocked by Uchida.
A big left from Carlos misses.
Uchida connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Carlos missing with a left hand there. Uchida was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Uchida feinted there with a counter leg kick.
No joy there for Carlos, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
As Carlos looks to move away, Uchida throws a big counter combo but Carlos just gets out of the way.
A chopping leg kick lands by Uchida.
Carlos fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Uchida manages to avoid it.
Carlos has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Uchida.
Uchida moves out of range as Carlos throws a body kick.

Carlos paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Carlos throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Uchida tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Carlos is in Uchida's guard.

I would just about give that final round to Juan Carlos.
Well Carlos has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
