Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Conor McGregor (ranked 3087 p4p, 24919 weight class) and Nate Diaz (ranked 296 p4p, 0 weight class). McGregor kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Foggy Dew. On his way into the cage it seems that Conor McGregor has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Conor McGregor seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Diaz with that takedown attempt.
McGregor throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Diaz stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from McGregor.
McGregor throws a one two combo.
McGregor throws a head kick but Diaz moves out of range.

Diaz closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Diaz happy to just control the position for now.

Diaz decides to take the fight back to the feet.

McGregor checks a leg kick.

Diaz chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before McGregor can pounce on him.
McGregor misses with a head kick.
McGregor throws a series of punches but Diaz moves out of range.
Diaz throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
McGregor is looking to score with low kicks.

Diaz moves into the clinch successfully.
McGregor is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Diaz has clasped his hands together around McGregor's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Diaz is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down McGregor's shoulder. That is not cool.
McGregor is breathing heavily.
Diaz creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Diaz working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

Diaz has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Diaz drops to a knee looking for a takedown but McGregor gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Diaz has McGregor pulled in close to control his posture.
