PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ganny Kogir (ranked 3117 p4p, 3432 weight class) and Johnny Saigon (ranked 398 p4p, 437 weight class). Saigon is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Run through the jungle. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saigon cracks Kogir with a right hand to the side of the head.
Saigon pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Saigon throws a leg kick
and Kogir cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Saigon slips under a jab from Kogir.
Kogir takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Saigon's corner calls for a 1-2. Saigon obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Kogir has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Tez’s Stand N Bang ! in the buildup to the fight.
A slow jab from Saigon misses its intended target.

Saigon works over Kogir's head and body with a nice combination.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kogir seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Saigon misses with a low kick as Kogir jumps back.

Saigon looks to land a body kick but Kogir moved away.
Saigon is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kogir swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A looping hook to the body misses from Saigon. Kogir does a little dance to reset his feet.
No joy there for Kogir, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Saigon lands a two punch combo.
Some wild striking there from Saigon.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Saigon is defended easily by Kogir.
It looked like Kogir was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Saigon.
Saigon looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Kogir misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Saigon.

Saigon darts in and clinches Kogir up against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Saigon decides to pull guard.

Saigon has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Saigon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kogir doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kogir manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Saigon is on top in guard.

Saigon seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Kogir is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
