Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chris Steve (ranked 23 p4p, 147 weight class) and Leyte Gulf (ranked 3 p4p, 20 weight class). Gulf has chosen For Heavy Metal we will die! as his entrance music. Leyte Gulf will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 49 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chris Steve!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Leyte Gulf!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steve lands a nice leg kick that just misses Gulf's sensitive parts.

Steve closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Gulf misses with a hook from the clinch.
Gulf misses with a short punch on the inside.
Steve can't find room to land a body shot as Gulf controls the action.
Gulf working aggressively here.
Gulf makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Gulf prevents a body shot from Steve.
Steve lands with a light punch inside.
Steve misses with a body punch.
Gulf lands a body punch in the clinch.
Gulf tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Gulf has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Gulf drags the fight down to the ground.

Gulf isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Steve stacks Gulf on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Steve!
Gulf tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Gulf's face as Steve controls the position.
Gulf tries to buck Steve off but Steve is having none of it.
Gulf manages to work his way to half guard, despite Steve's best efforts.
Steve prevents Gulf from improving his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Steve is controlling the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gulf wants to sweep but Steve has passed to side control!
Gulf regains half guard.
Gulf tries to roll over but Steve keeps him under control.
Steve performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Gulf throws a big shot that misses.
Gulf swings widly with a right hand
enabling Steve to counter with a crisp jab.
Gulf circles away from the clinch attempt.

Steve has closed the distance and engaged Gulf in a clinch.
A short left from Gulf.
Steve digs a right hand underneath Gulf's ribcage. Gulf let out a lung full of air as it connected.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Steve lands an elbow that stopped Gulf in his tracks for a moment.
Steve lands a hook to the side of the head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gulf lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Gulf pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gulf has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Steve finds it's way round the side to connect with Gulf's head.
Steve seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Jab, jab by Steve - just one landing.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Steve dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Gulf tries to land a front kick but Steve steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Steve lands a big head kick that sends Gulf tumbling to the mat! Steve takes a step backwards and waves Gulf back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Gulf is rocked!
Steve fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Steve throws a poor cross that misses
and Gulf counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Steve throws a leg kick
and Gulf counters with a nice uppercut.

It looks like Chris Steve has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gulf throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
An attempted straight right counter from Steve misses the target.

Steve closes the distance and pushes Gulf back into the cage.
Steve lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Chris Steve has scored more points in the clinch so far.
Steve fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Steve misses with a hook to the ribs.
Gulf lands with a light punch inside.
Steve works on Gulf's body with a couple of short punches.

Gulf breaks the clinch.
Steve lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Steve throws a push kick but Gulf slaps the foot to one side.
Gulf misses with a leg kick
and Steve counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Gulf scores with a punch to the head.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Steve lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Gulf has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Gulf and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Chris Steve seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Steve's jab looks to have found its range, popping Gulf under the eye.
Gulf is still on wobbly legs! Can Steve finish him?
Gulf ducks into an uppercut from Steve and that's knocked him out cold! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Chris Steve!
Chris Steve retains his middleweight title!
A relieved looking Chris Steve thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
