PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Charlie Chaplin (ranked 40 p4p, 121 weight class) and Eduardo Corassa (ranked 4 p4p, 10 weight class). Chaplin kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Champion - Charlie Chaplin. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Charlie Chaplin!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 6 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Corassa!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chaplin scores with a jab to the body.
Corassa uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Chaplin.
Corassa throws a leg kick but Chaplin sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Corassa cracks Chaplin with a good jab.
Corassa throws the left hand but Chaplin avoids the punch easily.

Chaplin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Corassa manages to avoid it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Corassa throws a series of punches but Chaplin moves out of range.
Corassa takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Chaplin drops down looking for a counter takedown but Corassa sprawls and moves away.
Corassa misses with an uppercut. Chaplin saw that one coming.
Chaplin lands a nice hook to Corassa's body. Corassa takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Corassa throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

and Corassa counters with a leg kick.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Chaplin throws a looping overhand right but Corassa ducks down to avoid it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Corassa is pulling down on Chaplin's head. It's preventing any offense from Chaplin, at least for the moment.

Chaplin sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Corassa's guard.
Chaplin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Corassa keeps working.
Chaplin is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Corassa is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Corassa wants to get back to full guard.
Chaplin looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Corassa is looking for a sweep. Chaplin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Chaplin stalling away here and it's allowed Corassa to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

A little jabbing left from Corassa on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Chaplin moves into the clinch successfully.
Chaplin has a couple of punches blocked by Corassa.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

No joy there for Corassa, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Corassa doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Charlie Chaplin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chaplin tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Chaplin ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Corassa moves away.

Chaplin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Corassa manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Chaplin throws a good cross that connects.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Corassa uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Chaplin loads up on a big right hand but Corassa slips the punch.
Corassa looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Chaplin misses with an uppercut. Corassa saw that one coming.

Corassa buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Oh Chaplin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Chaplin thuds a left hand into Corassa's body.
Corassa works the jab nicely.
Corassa jabbing away but nothing is landing.
and Corassa counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Chaplin! He's just covering up as Corassa starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:14 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Eduardo Corassa!

Our winner, Eduardo Corassa, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
