Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Konji Yamaski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Adelphos Hondros!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hondros tries to close the distance and clinch up but Yamaski swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Yamaski shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Yamaski showed some decent athleticism there.

Yamaski wants to pass the guard but Hondros is defending well.
Yamaski slows the pace down in half guard.
Yamaski seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Yamaski is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hondros sees it coming and defends easily.
Yamaski perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Yamaski is looking to take a break and control but Hondros is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Yamaski decides to stand and escape the position.
Nice takedown defense from Hondros. No joy for Yamaski on that attempt.
Yamaski throws a right and a left that both miss.
Yamaski misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Yamaski dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Hondros. That did some damage!

and Yamaski counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Yamaski.

Yamaski drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Yamaski jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hondros working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Yamaski doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Yamaski manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Yamaski is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Yamaski controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Yamaski closes the distance and clinches up with Hondros, looking for a takedown. Yamaski pushes Hondros against the cage but Hondros circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Yamaski closes the distance and pushes Hondros back into the cage.
Yamaski is trying to maintain a safe position but Hondros gets an underhook and turns Yamaski into the cage.
Yamaski wants to get back to striking at distance but Hondros won't allow it.
Hondros is leaning against Yamaski and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Yamaski tries to stall but Hondros uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Yamaski circles away from the clinch attempt
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Hondros misses with a takedown attempt - Yamaski sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Yamaski keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Yamaski lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Hondros backwards.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hondros drops down looking for an ankle pick but Yamaski pulls his leg out and moves away.
Konji Yamaski has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Adelphos Hondros.

Hondros pushes Yamaski back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Yamaski takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Yamaski drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hondros struggles to land a body shot inside as Yamaski controls his hands.
Yamaski lands an elbow just above Hondros 's eye.
Yamaski tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Hondros is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Hondros is fighting off a takedown attempt but Yamaski is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Hondros to the mat. Hondros regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Hondros is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Yamaski is controlling him.

Yamaski seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Yamaski lands a heavy elbow.
Hondros wants to hold on but Yamaski pushes him away.
Hondros tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Hondros is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hondros really wants to buck Yamaski off and get back to his feet.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Yamaski is going olschool here, as he tries to force Hondros to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Hondros shrugs it off.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hondros is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Hondros tries to lock up and control but Yamaski gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Yamaski can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hondros is looking to escape.
Yamaski is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Hondros can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Hondros tries to buck Yamaski off but he can't manage it.

Hondros is trying desperately to improve position.
Adelphos Hondros has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Hondros tries to lock up and control but Yamaski gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Hondros is desperately trying to improve his position but Yamaski has a good base and remains in mount.

Hondros has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hondros is trying to get back to his feet but Yamaski has full control of the position and if anything, Hondros has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Hondros is trying escape back to his feet. He turns into his opponent's guard and eventually finds his way back to his feet.
Yamaski doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

so Yamaski counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Well Yamaski has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
