Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Edward Conan (ranked 349 p4p, 707 weight class) and Abraham Durden (ranked 50 p4p, 102 weight class). Edward Conan could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Abraham Durden's chin.

With a record of 28 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Abraham Durden!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Chris Edwards and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Durden throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Durden takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Durden throws a body punch but Conan moves out of range.
Conan with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Durden to score with a decent uppercut.
Conan tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Durden swivels and escapes.
Conan tries to bum rush Durden with a series of wild strikes but Durden uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Conan's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Durden connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Conan scrambles back to his feet.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Conan connects with a nice short shot to Durden's temple.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Durden is positioning himself well to prevent Conan advancing to mount.

Conan looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Abraham Durden will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Conan shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Durden eats them both and turns towards Conan to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Conan throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Durden sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Durden ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Durden bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Conan's head.
Durden throws a looping overhand right but Conan ducks down to avoid it.
Conan catches Durden with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Abraham Durden seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Durden uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Conan.

Durden has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Conan is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Conan has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Conan there as he acknowledges the shot.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That was a close second round but I would say that Edward Conan will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Edward Conan. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Conan ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Conan no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Durden got a little sloppy there for a moment and Conan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Durden has managed to get both his arms back between Conan's legs - danger averted.
