The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akechi swings for the body but Chaize moves out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Chaize. Akechi does a little dance to reset his feet.
Akechi drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Chaize defends it well.

Chaize loads up on a big right hand but Akechi slips the punch.
And Akechi tries to counter it with a takedown but Chaize pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Akechi tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Chaize defends well and Akechi ends up having to push Chaize into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Akechi working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
