PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Giggle Valentine (ranked 1794 p4p, 3950 weight class) and Rocco Damato (ranked 179 p4p, 368 weight class). Damato is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Thunderstruck. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Giggle Valentine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rocco Damato!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Nard Betker and Aafke Stam.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Damato takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Damato wants to clinch.
Damato fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Valentine seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Damato thumps Valentine with a low kick.
A nice inside leg kick there by Valentine. That's going to slow Damato down.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Damato shoots for a double leg takedown but Valentine sprawls well. He's pushed Damato's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Damato tries to clinch but Valentine is having none of it.
Valentine throws a head kick that Damato semi-blocks.
Valentine lands with a hook. Damato tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Damato has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Jab, jab by Valentine - just one landing.
Damato takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Damato ducks right into an uppercut from Valentine.
Damato walks into a straight right hand from Valentine.
Valentine displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Damato.
Valentine was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Damato takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Damato has his takedown stuffed
and Valentine counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Giggle Valentine has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rocco Damato.
Damato tries to move into range but Valentine moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Damato tries to score a power double leg takedown but Valentine sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Damato somewhat.

Damato misses with a takedown

Damato goes for a double leg but Valentine avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Valentine continues to drive forward.
It looked like Valentine wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Damato fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Valentine went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action!

Damato takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Valentine cracks Damato with an open hand slap.
Valentine bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Damato shoots in but no luck this time.
Valentine is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

and Valentine counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Valentine dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Valentine bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Valentine with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Valentine lands with a cross.
Damato moves forwards but Valentine connects with a nice, crisp jab.
The fighters circle momentarily. Valentine darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Valentine ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Damato shoots in for a takedown but Valentine shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Giggle Valentine has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rocco Damato.

Valentine tries to keep at a distance but Damato has taken the fight into the clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Valentine pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Valentine checks a low kick from Damato.
Valentine comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Damato throws a lazy uppercut
and Valentine counters with a slapping leg kick.

and Valentine counters with a three punch combo that has Damato backing up. Damato nods at Valentine to acknowledge the strikes.
The crowd cheers as Valentine lands an impressive looking overhand right. Damato doesn't seem phased though.
Rocco Damato is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Valentine counters with a nice right hand that sends Damato toppling to the canvas! Damato scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Valentine finish him?!
Damato is still on wobbly legs! Can Valentine finish him?

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Valentine cracks Damato with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Damato tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Valentine pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Damato is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:08 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Giggle Valentine!
