PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Warren Peace (ranked 2007 p4p, 3585 weight class) and Javon Reese (ranked 247 p4p, 410 weight class). Peace comes to the cage accompanied by Somebody Gonna Get It. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Warren Peace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Javon Reese!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Saam Ante and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reese throws a sloppy head kick and Peace moves out of range easily.
Peace feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Reeses jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Peace waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Reese.
Reese throws a big counter head kick but Peace avoids it with no problem.
Peace has been working on his boxing with his coaches at MY YARD Resurrect in the buildup to the fight.
Peace swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Reese closes the distance and clinches.
Reese tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Peace avoids it.
Reese misses with a knee strike.
Reese blocking some punches.
Peace manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Reese misses with a knee to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Peace pushes Reese back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Reese blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Peace throws a punch but it's blocked by Reese.
Reese tries to land a knee to the head but Peace blocks with his arms.
Peace throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Reeses head.
Reese is trying to pull guard but Peace has him pressed against the cage.

Peace is trying to break free.
Peace takes a knee right on the jaw!

It looks like Warren Peace has been cut.
Peace misses with a hook from the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Peace's face as he tries to break the clinch.
A short uppercut from Peace.
Peace lands a right hand.
Reese lands a knee to the body.
Peace is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Reese is keeping busy.
Reese scores with a knee to the head.
Peace misses with the head strike.
Reese with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Peace swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Reese has Peace pressed against the cage, preventing Peace from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Reese obliges.
Reese throws a knee to the head but misses.

Reese pulls Peace into guard.
Reese trying to keep a closed guard but Peace is proving a slippery customer.
Peace is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Reese working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Peace has passed into half guard!
Reese moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Peace wants to control from the top but Reese keeps moving.

Reese looking for a guillotine here but Peace defends easily.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Peace accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Peace is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Peace lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Peace chips away with some ground and pound.

Reese has his foot on Peace's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Peace works his way back into a safe position though.
Peace trying to control the position from guard on top but Reese is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Peace pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Reese is keeping the position for now.
Peace is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Reese looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Peace in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Reese working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Peace doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Peace manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Peace lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Peace cracks Reese with a solid left hand.
Peace has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Peace is working Reese over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

It looks like Javon Reese has been cut.
Reese uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Peace.
Reese is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Reese tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
The fight stays on the outside here - Reese looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Peace went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Peace avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Reese gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Peace counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Reese connects with a vicious head kick that knocks Peace to the floor! Reese dives in looking for the finish!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Reese is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Peace defends it well.

Reese seems to be looking for submissions.
Peace trying to get back to full guard but Reese takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Peace on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Peace tries to get out of the position.
Peace is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Peace is wriggling around trying to escape.
Peace knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Reese on the ground.
Peace squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Reese has control of Peace's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Peace regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Reese wants to control the pace but Peace is squirming around nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Reese goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Peace turns into him and now he's in Reese's guard.
Reese wants to sweep but no luck.

Peace distracts Reese with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Reese looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Peace postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Peace scoring with punches to the head and body.
Peace working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Reese's head.
Peace lands a couple of digs.

Reese looking for a guillotine here but Peace defends easily.
Peace wants to control from the top but Reese keeps moving.
Peace throws an elbow that misses. Reese uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Peace's guard. Nice move by Reese!

Reese postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Peace is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Reese, into his guard.

Peace got a little sloppy there for a moment and Reese has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Peace has managed to get both his arms back between Reese's legs - danger averted.

A close second round but Javon Reese will probably get the nod - 10:9.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

The fighters circling - Peace throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Reese defending well as Peace loads up on a big left hand.
Reese throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Reese takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Peace throws a series of punches but Reese moves out of range.
Peace rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Reese moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Warren Peace is winning the standup battle so far.
Peace throws a right and a left that Reese avoids nicely.

Peace gets tackled into the cage by Reese. Reese maintains the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Reese pulls guard effortlessly.
Peace trying to control but Reese is working from the bottom.

Reese is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Peace is aware though and is defending well.

Reese keeping moving, preventing Peace from controlling successfully.

Reese looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Reese is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Peace slips nicely into half guard.

Reese is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Peace pulls his head out easily.
Reese is looking for a sweep. Peace is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Peace thows a huge punch but Reese dodges it nicely.

Peace misses with a head shot. Reese uses the momentum to regain guard.
Reese is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Peace is trying to stand.
Peace wants to control but Reese is keeping busy.

Reese is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Peace is just riding it out for now. Reese eventually gives up the hold.

Peace is trying to stand.
Warren Peace has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Javon Reese is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Peace pushes Reese off but Reese dives into side control.
Reese wants to control but Peace is keeping him busy.
Peace pushes Reese away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Reese gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Javon Reese has got the better of the ground game so far.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Peace regains half guard there - taking advantage of Reese's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Reese is pressing down on Peace's thigh, looking to free his foot. Peace is holding on for now.
Reese is trying to control the action in half guard but Peace is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Reese is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Reese is looking to take a break and control but Peace is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Javon Reese comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Reese winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
