PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between August Jeaux (ranked 3473 p4p, 3412 weight class) and Jim Reefer (ranked 324 p4p, 320 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, August Jeaux!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Reefer!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Joseph Jones and Anthony Taglia.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reefer throws the kick towards the body but Jeaux avoids it.
Jim Reefer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Reefer lands a nice looking kick to the body. Jeaux takes a step back to recover.
Jeaux misses with an uppercut. Reefer saw that one coming.
Reefer raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

Jeaux instigates a clinch.
Reefer working aggressively here.
Reefer tries a body shot but Jeaux blocks it.
Jeaux tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Reefer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Jeaux fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Reefer is out of range.
Jeaux throws a low kick but Reefer moves out of range easily.
Donk. Reefer catches Jeaux right on the button with a cross.
Reefer dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Jeaux. That did some damage!
Jeaux works the jab nicely.
Reefer fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Jeaux tries to clinch up.
Jeaux looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The fighters circle momentarily. Jeaux darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Jeaux moves forwards but Reefer connects with a nice, crisp jab.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jeaux tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Reefer manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Reefer flicks out a counter leg kick but Jeaux steps away.
Reefer lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Jeaux backs up against the cage.

Jeaux is rocked!
Reefer cracks Jeaux with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Jeaux tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Reefer pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Jeaux is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jim Reefer!
During a confident post fight interview, Jim Reefer thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
August Jeaux was interviewed post fight and said 'I think, Pops from Friday said it best. “You win some, you lose some..but you LIVE to fight another day. I’ll keep fighting! '.
