PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Simon Adebisi (ranked 5634 p4p, 6431 weight class) and Shaka Zulu (ranked 88 p4p, 102 weight class). Shaka Zulu told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adebisi fails with a takedown attempt.
Zulu wants to counter the offense by Adebisi and move into the clinch position.
Adebisi has a takedown stuffed.
Adebisi tries to clinch up but Zulu circles away and keeps his distance.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Zulu's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Adebisi wants to get back to striking at distance but Zulu won't allow it.

Shaka Zulu has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Zulu wants to get back to full guard.
Zulu is staying active underneath Adebisi, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Zulu slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Adebisi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Zulu on the ground.

Zulu is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Zulu is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Adebisi is aware though and is defending well.
Adebisi has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Adebisi wanted to stand there but Zulu had control of the position.

Zulu is looking for a triangle but Adebisi pushes his legs off easily.
Adebisi wants to control from the top but Zulu keeps moving.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Adebisi got a little sloppy there for a moment and Zulu has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Adebisi has managed to get both his arms back between Zulu's legs - danger averted.
Zulu has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at HAHAHAHAAHAA PHILANTHROPIC GYM. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Zulu working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Adebisi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Adebisi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Simon Adebisi.
I think Adebisi has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
