The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A lazy left from Watts finds it's target.
Watts ducks under a wild hook from Balkan.
Watts connects with a body shot.
Watts loads up on a big right hand but Balkan slips the punch.
Watts misses with an uppercut
enabling Balkan to counter with a crisp jab.
Watts takes one to the side of the head.
Watts thuds a left hand into Balkan's body.
Balkan takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Watts uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Balkan.
Balkan has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Cole Watts seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Balkan drives through and clinches with Watts against the cage.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Watts has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

and Balkan rattles Watts with a well-timed uppercut counter. - Watts tries to back away and recover but his hands are down low and he gets tagged again, sending him stumbling down to the canvas. Balkan dives in after him and quickly finishes the job with a trio of brutal punches, leaving Watts stiff and motionless on the mat!
