PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Justin Case (ranked 747 p4p, 1731 weight class) and Charles Manson (ranked 47 p4p, 106 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Justin Case!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Charles Manson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Anthony Taglia and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Manson lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Case misses with a looping left.

Manson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Case to the ground. Manson is now in Case's guard.
Manson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Manson wants to control from the top but Case keeps moving.

Manson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Case looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Case looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Case!

Manson regains half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Case moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Manson.

Manson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Case can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Case tries to stand and escape but Manson is controlling the position.

Manson has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Case loads up on a big right hand but Manson slips the punch.
Manson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Case counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
We've been told by Case's head coaches at Brooklyn Mixed Martial Arts that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Case takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Case throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Case throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Manson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Manson closes the distance and clinches up with Case, looking for a takedown. Manson pushes Case against the cage but Case circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Justin Case has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charles Manson.
Manson connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Manson misses with a right hand
and Case connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Manson swings for the body but Case moves out of range.
Case throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Manson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Case.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round but I would say that Justin Case will probably get the nod.

and Manson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Manson tries to move into range but Case moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Charles Manson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Case avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Manson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Case's head backwards.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Manson! But no joy.
Manson slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Some bone on bone action there as Manson checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

That was a close second round but I would say that Justin Case will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Charles Manson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Case has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Justin Case really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Brooklyn Apothecary logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
