Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mathew Dew (ranked 2556 p4p, 3085 weight class) and Kasper Hansen (ranked 257 p4p, 300 weight class). Kasper Hansen has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mathew Dew!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Kasper Hansen!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Sandra Marshall and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hansen throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Dew tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hansen is in Dew's guard.
Dew is trying to control the position but Hansen postures up.
Hansen preventing the sweep.
Dew keeping moving, preventing Hansen from controlling successfully.
Dew can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hansen controls the pace.
Hansen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dew swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hansen wants to control from the top but Dew keeps moving.
Dew really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Dew looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Dew seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Dew isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Hansen stacks Dew on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Hansen!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Dew is looking for a sweep.

Hansen tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Hansen tries to move to mount but Dew blocks the move with his legs.
Dew manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Dew wants to improve his position but instead Hansen has moved into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hansen in particular looking to stall.

Hansen wants to pass the guard but Dew is defending well.
The fighters are battling for position here. Dew manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Hansen's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Hansen remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

We've been informed that Hansen has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Hansen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dew keeps working.
You can see the frustration on Dew's face as Hansen controls the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Dew is trying to get back to half guard.

Hansen is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Dew is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Dew gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Hansen throwing strikes here but Dew is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Hansen is looking to work his way around to Dew's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Hansen wants to take Dew's back here but Dew is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dew slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Hansen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dew does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Hansen fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dew sprawls well initially but Hansen persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Kasper Hansen has got the better of the ground game so far.
Dew is looking for a sweep. Hansen is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Hansen trying to control the position from guard on top but Dew is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hansen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dew swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Dew working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hansen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hansen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Dew wants to sweep here but Hansen controlling him for the moment.
Hansen is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Hansen is continuing to stall.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Dew looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Dew keeping moving, preventing Hansen from controlling successfully.
Hansen seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Hansen must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dew is on top in guard.

Hansen wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hansen can do anything to dispel that myth.

Hansen is looking to get back to full guard here but Dew has managed to pass to side control instead.
Hansen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dew. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Dew tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dew has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Hansen has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hansen closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Dew has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Hansen. Oh but Dew has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Hansen goes limp - he's gone! Dew jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Mathew Dew!
A relieved looking Mathew Dew thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
