Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ahmad Kurniawan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Omar Jr!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurniawan avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Kurniawan seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Kurniawan gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jr to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Jr pushing down on Kurniawan's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Jr is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kurniawan is just riding it out for now. Jr eventually gives up the hold.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jr seems to be looking for submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Jr is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Kurniawan is defending against the submission attempts here by Jr.
Jr is trying to control the action in half guard but Kurniawan is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Jr is controlling the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jr is looking to stall here but Kurniawan recovers full guard.

Jr drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jr jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Jr trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Kurniawan not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Jr has gone for a leg lock! Kurniawan slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jr's guard.

Jr has a closed guard, preventing Kurniawan from standing up.

Jr is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kurniawan is aware though and is defending well.
Kurniawan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jr on the ground.

Kurniawan avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Jr throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Kurniawan escapes and throws Jr's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Jr keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Jr looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Jr controlling the position well.
Jr manages to get to full guard.

Jr has an active guard here but Kurniawan has managed to pass into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jr is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Omar Jr dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Jr gets caught flat footed, as Kurniawan shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Jr is trying to keep Kurniawan in close.

Jr looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Kurniawan is defending well. Jr quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Kurniawan has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Jr celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Omar Jr!
